The Mercury Orchestra, national winner of the American Prize for Orchestral Performance, performs an outdoor concert featuring Gerald Finzi’s Intimations of Immortality, a rarely performed vocal-orchestral work based on the poem by William Wordsworth. It is a moving portrait of the loss of the wonder we have as children and the hope that the memory of the divine will allow us to sympathise with our fellow man. The concert closes with Ottorino Respighi’s popular Pines of Rome, a colorful tableau of scenes in Rome, including children at play, somber catacombs, birdsong, and imperial marching.

Award-winning Colombian tenor David Rivera Bozón makes his debut with the orchestra, and the New World Chorale returns as a collaborative partner. Families are especially welcome to this concert.

Approximate concert end time: 9:00pm
